Sr. Manager, Accounting Services

The person in this role will have responsibility for managing the centralized general ledger for all business groups across North America.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the month-end account closing process for complex business segment operating locations.
- Assist with the solving of accounting problems and ensuring compliance with GAAP and the company’s Financial Accounting Standards.
- Ensure account reconciliations are completed on and updated by the accounting staff as required.
- Ensure high quality, lowest cost delivery of services to customers; ensure work and services performed are well understood and meet or exceed standards.
- Oversee the ownership and accountability for service, cost, and quality services retained centrally by the accounting team.
- Manage the relationship between the Business Segment customers and co-sourced service providers.
- Manage adherence to standard accounting cycle operating procedures and suggest updates as needed.
- Maintain compliance and control over the centralized business processes.
- Drive process improvement and standardization utilizing continuous improvement principles.
- Provide support to assigned teams on large, complex, matters requiring next level decision-making. Receive and resolve items that escalate.
- Manage and support junior staff performing the general accounting functions for complex operating locations, including the offshore support team as required.
- Develop and maintain expertise regarding GAAP, the company’s financial management handbook, and other financial reporting rules and requirements.
- Act as an expert and provide direction on all areas of the general ledger such as fixed assets, project accounting, tax, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Work with other business units, accounting teams, and locations to meet company objectives, make improvements, and create value in all service areas.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance from an accredited institution
- 7 years of experience in an accounting function (A/R, A/P, Credit, GL, or Treasury)
- 5 years of management/supervisory experience
- Expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Expert knowledge of financial policies and procedures
- Proven leadership skills, including both face to face and remote
- Working knowledge of internal controls
- Expert computer skills (spreadsheet / data query and manipulation)
- Expert communication skills (customer relationships / technical writing)
- Ability to work with Major Customers
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or advance certification (MBA, CPA, CMA) preferred.
- Oracle, Hyperion, JD Edwards, or any ERP system experience.
- Highly Proficient Microsoft Office products Excel particularly, pivot tables, vlookups and macros.
- Working knowledge of job and process cost accounting theory.
