Production Manager – Heavy Steel Fabrication

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager for a world leader in heavy structural steel fabrication. The Production Manager will be responsible for daily oversight of heavy steel fabrication shop activities, progress, and resources to meet production schedules and performance targets. Located in beautiful rural Montana, this is a tremendous career opportunity for someone who has structural steel production, welding, fabrication, and supervisory/management experience.
Location: Montana
Responsibilities:
- Manage fabrication crew, activities, and resources to meet production goals on a daily basis.
- Determine staff requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments with consideration towards budget limitations and time constraints.
- Resolve any production problems.
- Establish workflow and processes to enhance speed and efficiency without compromising safety.
- Work with Foreman to provide motivation, guidance, and support to a workforce of 150 people.
- Accountable for safe operation, regulatory compliance, throughput, quality, continuous improvement, production, and cost management of plant.
- Continuous improvement and efforts to reduce expenses and increase productivity.
- Procurement and use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to meet project and production goals.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of structural steel fabrication or relevant industry experience.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- B.S. degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or relevant field is preferred.
- Knowledge of structural steel welding and fabrication processes.
- Experience with metal-cored (MCAW) and flux-cored (FCAW) welding on heavy structural steel.
- Knowledge of AISC, AWS, and CWB standards (certifications preferred).
- Experience identifying and applying LEAN principles/Kaizen events.
- Excellent leadership skills with a track record of developing production staff members.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of supervisory and HR functions, including performance reviews, timekeeping, disciplinary action, record keeping and applicable employment law.
Travel Required: Minimal - As needed
