Quality Manager – Structural Welding
Industry Segment: Steel - Fabrication
We are seeking a Quality Manager for our client, a leader in heavy structural steel fabrication. In this role, the Quality Manager will have oversight of 5 inspectors and all quality control and quality assurance related activities. This is a fantastic career opportunity in beautiful rural Montana, for someone who has a strong quality control background and knowledge of codes and standards for AISC, AWS, CWB, ASTM, and NACE.
Location: Montana
Responsibilities:
- Manage Quality staff (weld, dimensional, and NDT inspectors) and interface with 3rd party inspectors.
- Interpret project specifications and applicable standards.
- Plan and prepare inspection activities using the specific and/or standard Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP) by reviewing the project’s requirements.
- Communicate project’s specific quality and inspection requirements to inspectors.
- Verify inspectors’ work and approve inspection and testing procedures.
- Prepare and/or review NCR or correction memo along with proposed resolutions and submit NCR to the customer’s approval.
- Maintain all quality records.
- Conduct internal and external quality audits.
- Generate preventive or corrective actions in accordance with the Quality Manual.
- Oversee training to achieve greater quality, efficiency, and company performance.
- Oversee quality system documentation (Quality Manual, Work Instruction, Forms) and processes and provide updates and changes when needed.
- Supply the client with certificates of compliance and analysis reports.
- Ensure that the finished product complies with project requirements.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or Construction Engineering highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge in welding standards and best practices is a must.
- Experience with coatings standards and best practices is desirable.
- Excellent knowledge and experience with AISC, AWS, CWB, ASTM, and NACE standards.
- Must have at least 3 years prior management experience overseeing Quality Control.
- Must have very strong written and verbal communication skills.
