Production Manager – Welding & Fabrication
Industry Segment: Building Fabrication
We are seeking a Production Manager to oversee production of structural steel building products. The person in this position will ensure a safe work environment and provide direction to production workers while acting as a coach and facilitator to the group.
Location: Dallas / Fort Worth, TX
Responsibilities:
- Assigns and directs workers in the group with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production and meeting production goals and delivery dates.
- Reviews master production schedule and work orders, establishes priorities, and revises schedule accordingly to meet customer demands.
- Provides a safe environment for workers and for proactively facilitating and inspiring an active culture of safety among their team.
- Coordinates flow of work within or between departments to expedite production.
- Recommends measures to improve production, equipment performance, and quality.
- Maintains compliance with Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping.
- Engages in regular communication with reports on coaching, career progress, company and department news and objectives, corrective discussions and actions.
- Ensures quality and timely execution of duties performed by production personnel.
- Ensures delivery of KPIs including day to day service levels, customer experience, quality measures and monitoring of throughput.
- Trains workers and assists in identifying training needs.
- Regularly performs work of the type supervised.
- Works with maintenance and engineering to troubleshoot machines and resolve production and/or quality issues.
- Maintains basic production or output records and conformance to budgetary limitations.
- Reviews and comments on performance evaluations of all subordinates.
- Assists in recruitment, onboarding, training, and staff development.
- Partners with supply chain to ensure appropriate flow of materials.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Production Management or similar is preferred
- At least 10 years of manufacturing experience in a fabrication environment
- 5 years of supervisory experience including: hiring, retention, performance review and discipline
- Experienced in employee training and development
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles (Six Sigma experience is a plus)
- Ability to plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve production results
- Ability to achieve positive results in safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations
- Quality orientation and attention to detail
- Problem analysis and resolution
- Experienced with inventory management
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Computer proficiency
Travel Required: Minimal
