Production Supervisor – Heavy Structural Steel
Industry Segment: Steel - Fabrication
We are partnered with a client in heavy structural steel fabrication to find a Production Supervisor who will oversee welding and fabrication activities. This is a fantastic career opportunity for someone with a heavy structural steel background who has a track record of successfully meeting production schedules and performance metrics.
Location: Montana
Responsibilities:
- Oversee a workforce of 150+ employees.
- Manage schedule for staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments.
- Actively manage performance of personnel and manufacturing processes.
- Review operations and collaborate with staff to resolve production problems.
- Review required job tasks with direct reports and work together to provide motivation, guidance and support.
- Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
- Forecast capacity constraints and work internally to add personnel and equipment.
- Accountable for safe operations, regulatory compliance, throughput, quality, continuous improvement, production, and cost management of plant.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with structural steel welding and fabrication, or related production.
- 3+ years of production supervisory experience.
- Experience with Metal Core and Flux Core, FCAW welding on heavy structural steel.
- Strong familiarity with AISC, AWS, and/or CWB codes and standards, certifications preferred.
- Experience identifying and applying LEAN principles/Kaizen events.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to inspire, develop and lead a production staff.
- Knowledge of supervisory HR administrative functions: performance reviews, time-keeping, disciplinary action, record keeping and applicable employment law.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt in continuously changing work duties and environment.
