Industry Segment: Industrial Equipment
We are seeking an Application Engineer with a background in drive systems for high-speed rotating equipment. This is a hybrid position based out of Houston, TX and a fantastic opportunity with a world class organization specializing in the design and service of high-performance power transmitting equipment.
The person in this role will provide technical sales support, product selection, product pricing, and quotation support for our clients’ mechanical variable speed drives used in Power Generation, Oil & Gas, and other industry sectors. The Application Engineer is part of a global sales support team and will be supported by experts from our client’s factory in Germany.

Responsibilities:
- Support the local Sales Organization in the Americas with processing customer projects.
- Analyze customers’ technical requirements (specifications) and conduct feasibility checks.
- Translate project requirements into costing and customer offer.
- Make product selections which meet customer specifications.
- Provide technical support to Sales for technical clarification meetings .
- Once customer order is received, prepare handover documentation to the order execution team in the factory and conduct the handover.
- Contribute in continuous improvement of tools and processes and implementation of individual improvement initiatives.
- Interact with vendors concerning parts or propose to provide as part of the overall drive package (heat exchanger, connection couplings, base frames, etc.).
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong understanding of primary mechanical power transmission engineering design
- Experience in drive system design & engineering with regards to the following:
- High speed rotating equipment (general)
- Centrifugal compressors
- Centrifugal pumps & fans
- Experience with Air-to-Oil and Water-to-Oil heat exchangers will be a plus
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule and report to Houston office
- Ability to travel 10%, including internationally (USA, Germany, South America); significant travel to Germany during first year training.
- Strong team player with excellent communication and time management skills.
