Quality Manager – Manufacturing & Fabrication

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager for a world leader in the manufacturing of specialty construction products.  In this role, the Quality Manager will have oversight of 4 inspectors, all quality control, and quality assurance related activities.  This is a terrific career opportunity north of the DFW area for someone with experience overseeing quality in structural steel fabrication.

Location: Dallas / Fort Worth, TX

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and administers policies and procedures to improve the quality of products, materials, components and/or manufacturing processes.
  • Makes recommendations to ensure production meets standards and predicted yields.
  • Ensures employees follow established procedures and complete quality assurance work within time and budgetary constraints.
  • Interpret project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Ensures products meet international quality standards such as ISO 9001 and works across a variety of quality assurance disciplines.
  • Works directly in QA inspection and testing to ensure standards are met.
  • Reviews inspection reports and confers with QA, production, management and engineering personnel when necessary to solve work related problems.
  • Records inspection results by completing reports, summarizing reworks and wastes and inputting data into quality database.
  • Trains the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence.
  • Manages CAPA and Nonconforming Material (MRB) processes.
  • Leads AISC certification and maintenance.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Construction) is preferred.
  • Must have 5-10 years of fabrication/manufacturing quality management experience.
  • Strong knowledge in welding standards and best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with ISO and AISC or AWS standards with a strong preference for someone who has implemented AISC standards.
  • Experience launching a new site is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
